Xpeng has officially launched the Xpeng Mona L05, the third and largest model in its youth-focused Mona family. The five-seat mid-size SUV went on sale in China on October 29 with fully electric and extended-range (EREV) versions, and it arrived noticeably cheaper than its pre-sale prices suggested.

Price: cheaper than expected

Official guide prices run from about $21,550 to $26,310. Buyers who place a deposit by December 15 get a cash discount of roughly $740, which brings the range down to about $20,800–$25,570. Compared with the pre-sale lineup announced in mid-October, every existing version is about $2,230 cheaper, and Xpeng added a new entry-level 560 Plus electric version below them.

VersionTypeLaunch price (approx.)
560 PlusEV$20,800
535 MaxEV$22,290
635 MaxEV$23,780
635 Ultra SEEV$25,570
1310 MaxEREV$22,290
1310 Ultra SEEREV$24,080

Size, range and tech

The Mona L05 is 4,870 mm long with a 2,940 mm wheelbase, a sloping roof and frameless doors. Electric versions offer up to 635 km of CLTC range, while the EREV gets 310 km on battery and a combined 1,310 km with a full tank.

Max versions use one in-house Turing AI chip (750 TOPS), while Ultra SE versions get two chips with 1,500 TOPS and the full second-generation VLA driver-assistance model. Inside there is a 17.3-inch central screen, a 26.8-inch head-up display, and optional rear entertainment, a zero-gravity passenger seat and a 20-speaker audio system.

Xpeng says 5,000 Mona L05 SUVs are already built, with deliveries starting on November 1.

Going global

Global shipments began on October 26, and Xpeng plans to sell the SUV in 65 countries and regions, with left- and right-hand-drive versions developed at the same time. The company is counting on the L05 to help push monthly sales above 60,000 units in the fourth quarter; in September it delivered 41,256 vehicles, its best month of the year.

Our take

At around $21,000 for a near five-metre SUV with a 635 km range, the Mona L05 puts serious pressure on rivals such as the Tesla Model Y and BYD’s family SUVs. If the export plan works, it could become one of Xpeng’s most important cars outside China.
