Xpeng is bringing its biggest SUV to Europe. The new Xpeng G9L, a 5.12-meter flagship with up to seven seats, is now on sale in eight European countries, with prices in Germany starting at about $83,300. The first cars will reach customers in December 2026, and they will not be shipped from China: European G9Ls are assembled by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, which means they avoid the EU’s extra tariff on Chinese-made electric cars.

Three versions, all fully loaded

In Europe, Xpeng sells the G9L only in its top Ultra trim. Every version gets a 110 kWh NCM battery, an 800-volt platform, air suspension, rear-wheel steering and Nappa leather. The lineup in Germany looks like this:

  • RWD Long Range Ultra, 7 seats: 367 hp, up to 591 km (WLTP), from about $83,300
  • AWD Performance Ultra, 7 seats: 585 hp, up to 553 km (WLTP), from about $88,900
  • AWD Performance Ultra, 6 seats: 585 hp, up to 553 km (WLTP), from about $95,600, with the Premium package included

The Premium package costs about $5,600 extra on the seven-seat versions. Prices in France, Belgium and the Netherlands are slightly higher, and Austria is the most expensive of the launch markets. For comparison, a BMW X5 plug-in hybrid starts at about $114,800 in Germany, so Xpeng is clearly aiming at buyers of big German SUVs with a lot more equipment for less money.

Charging in under 12 minutes

The headline number is the charging speed. The G9L accepts up to 540 kW at a DC fast charger, and Xpeng says it goes from 10 to 80 percent in less than 12 minutes. The quickest all-wheel-drive version does 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, which is very fast for a car that weighs about 2.8 tonnes.

A lounge on wheels

Inside, the G9L is built for families and long trips. The front and second-row seats are heated, ventilated and have a massage function, and the second row comes either as a bench or as two captain’s chairs. The third row is heated too and folds 50:50. There is a 17.3-inch central screen, a large augmented reality head-up display, a 21.4-inch screen that folds down from the roof for rear passengers, a 26-speaker sound system and a fridge.

Xpeng’s advanced driver assistance for city streets will not be available at launch in Europe. The company plans to add it later by an over-the-air update, starting in 2027, if regulators approve it.

What about the range extender?

Xpeng has also shown a range-extender version of the G9L with a 1.5-liter turbo engine that only charges the battery and never drives the wheels. However, it is not part of the European launch lineup, and Xpeng has not given it a European price yet. For now, European buyers can only order the fully electric G9L.

Why it matters

The G9L is the fourth Xpeng model built in Graz, after the G6, G9 and P7+. Local assembly lets Xpeng skip the 20.7 percent EU tariff it would pay on cars imported from China, and that is exactly what makes this price possible. Xpeng plans to sell the G9L in 64 countries and regions, so the big SUV is meant to be a truly global model, and Europe is one of its most important tests.
