2027 Lynk & Co 08 EM-P plug-in hybrid SUV in orange and black

Lynk & Co is giving one of its oldest models a fresh push. The Geely-owned brand has published the first official images of the 2027 Lynk & Co 08 EM-P plug-in hybrid SUV and confirmed that it goes on sale in China on November 5. The headline changes so far are a bright new orange paint and, according to the brand, an upgrade to electric range.

What the teaser shows

The official pictures show an orange body with a black roof and black trim, which Lynk & Co calls a “vibrant orange” on its Weibo account. Apart from the color, the design looks almost unchanged from the current car, including the roof-mounted lidar above the windshield. The full spec sheet and prices will only come out at the launch event.

The brand says the main focus of this update is range. It has not said how it will get there: a bigger battery, better energy management, or both. Chinese outlet Yiche expects a noticeable jump, and some observers think the 08 EM-P could reach around 300 km of electric range. Treat that number as a guess for now, not a confirmed figure.

The current 08 EM-P in numbers

To understand what the new version has to beat, here is today’s car. The 08 EM-P is a midsize SUV sold in China only as a plug-in hybrid.

SpecCurrent Lynk & Co 08 EM-P
Length / width / height4,825 / 1,915 / 1,660 mm
Wheelbase2,848 mm
Engine1.5-liter turbo, 120 kW (161 hp)
System power (FWD / AWD)300 kW (402 hp) / 456 kW (612 hp)
Battery28.3 or 38.2 kWh LFP
Electric range (CLTC)160 km or 230 km (210 km on AWD)
Trunk545 liters, up to 1,277 liters
Price in Chinaabout $26,400 to $34,300

The front-wheel-drive versions pair the turbo engine with a 180 kW front motor through a three-speed DHT hybrid gearbox. The top all-wheel-drive version adds a 156 kW rear motor. With the 38.2 kWh battery, the 08 EM-P covers 230 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle, which is roughly 186 km on the stricter WLTP cycle.

Driver assistance is already strong. Every car gets a roof lidar, 3 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 11 cameras, run by an Nvidia Orin-Y chip. The top AWD trim moves up to Nvidia’s much more powerful Thor chip and two extra radars. Navigation on autopilot works on highways and in cities.

Why Lynk & Co needs this update

When the 08 EM-P arrived in 2023, it was one of the brand’s best-sellers and at times sold more than 10,000 units a month. Since then, Chinese buyers have been flooded with new plug-in SUVs from BYD, Li Auto, Aito and Geely’s own Galaxy brand. Lynk & Co’s attention has also moved to newer models like the 10 EM-P and the 900 SUV. According to China EV DataTracker, the 08 EM-P sold only 1,441 units in China in September 2026.

Lynk & Co already tried to boost demand in June, when it added a 230 km “Max” version at a limited-time price of about $25,500. A longer electric range and a bold new color are the next step. The real question is price: if the 2027 model keeps the current price range while adding range, it will be a much stronger rival in a very crowded segment.

We will update you with the full specs and prices after the launch on November 5.
