Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV starts deliveries in China, waiting time reaches 62 weeks

The Xiaomi YU7 electric crossover started deliveries in China on July 6. Company founder and CEO Lei Jun participated in the first batch delivery ceremony. The YU7 SUV got around 300,000 lock-in orders within 72 hours of launch. The delivery waiting time for this model reached 62 weeks.

The Xiaomi YU7 crossover entered the Chinese market on June 26. This model turned into a stunning success by reaching 240,000 lock-in orders in 18 hours. Three days after the launch, this number rose to an estimated 280,800 – 315,900 orders, according to CarFans. The delivery waiting time for the Xiaomi YU7 lies in a 45 – 62 week range as of July 6.

Xiaomi YU7 started deliveries

The first batch of Xiaomi YU7 crossovers was delivered to their owners on July 6. These are people who managed to book the car for 20,000 yuan (2,790 USD) within the first minutes after the sales had started. Xiaomi Auto shared on social media that the first owners of the YU7 are divided into two groups. The first is enthusiasts who seek a car’s performance. The second group includes moms and working people who bought this EV as a daily driver.

Xiaomi Auto founder and CEO Lei Jun participated in the first batch delivery ceremony. He took photos with the owners and thanked them for their support in person. The first owners also shared why they chose the YU7. Some of them highlighted this SUV’s styling and performance, while others called this car safe and family-friendly. There is no information about how many Xiaomi YU7 crossovers were delivered on the first day.

 According to previous information, the YU7-dedicated second phase (F2) plant in Beijing has yet to start operating. It means that Xiaomi-branded crossovers are likely assembled at the first phase (F1) factory alongside the SU7 sedan and the SU7 Ultra sports car.
